Emily B. Kirby, M.Div., LPC

Regardless of who you are, we all face tough issues. Sometimes you’ll be able to improve your situation on your own. Other times it takes some outside guidance. I’ve been privileged to be that helper for many people. I love seeing what God can do through people’s lives, and I enjoy giving my clients practical tools to deal with the issues of life. I know that through seeking the Lord and hard work, my clients can see real change.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been providing professional Christian counseling since 2005. I received a Master of Divinity in Psychology and Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University.

I love seeing what God can do through people’s lives. He is the Author of healing and restoration. However, I am also a firm believer that the client’s willingness to work hard both in and out of sessions is the catalyst to change. I enjoy giving my clients practical tools to deal with the issues of life, both through biblical resources and practical measures. I expect that my clients will use these tools outside of sessions to see real-life change.

While I am eclectic in my approach, I mainly use practical methods dealing with thoughts and behaviors such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. For most of my clients, I challenge their thought processes. I find that most of our problems begin with our thinking. If we can identify irrational and untrue thoughts and replace them with rational, truthful thinking, we can alleviate a lot of stress, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.

I was born and raised in the New Orleans area. I love sports, baking, watching reruns of old TV shows, and spending time with my husband and two children.
